![]() Rush, 61, was the chief executive and founder of OceanGate, the company behind the mission to the Titanic.Īccording to the company website, Rush oversaw OceanGate’s financial and engineering strategies and provided the vision for development of 4,000-metre- (13,123ft) and 6,000-metre-capable crewed submersibles. He told Le Monde last year of the vast number of species of marine life living around the wreck, saying: “The Titanic is an oasis in an immense desert.” Stockton Rush ![]() “Some are interested in its construction, others in the history of immigration to the US, others are interested in the millionaires on board, the stars of the era.” Nargeolet, who had been based in Connecticut in the US for many years, has described the wreckage as a “time capsule” where life suddenly stopped, endlessly fascinating to so many people for different reasons. “For 10 minutes, there was no sound on the submarine.” ![]() He said he glimpsed it from inside his submarine, detected with sonar and lit by projectors and said he and the team were left speechless. In an interview with Le Parisien last year, he described the first time he saw the wreck, which lies in total darkness, covered with coral. In 1987 he was part of the team that brought up a series of objects from the wreckage. He had been studying the Titanic for 35 years and had been involved in several submarine expeditions to the wreckage and hundreds of hours of observation. Nargeolet was a 77-year-old former French navy commander known as “Mr Titanic”. Harding also went into space last year with Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin company. Harding, 58, was the chair of the private plane firm Action Aviation. For the price of a pint in Wetherspoons, Downwell is definitely worth a try.The aviator Hamish Harding. Then there’s the difficulty curve, which should also keep me going for a while. There’s clearly a lot of depth to be had here, mainly through the unlockable skills and characters. I can’t see it replacing my Binding of Isaac addiction, but it will be nice to have something different to play every now and again. I’ve only played half an hour or so at the moment, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. At the end of each level you pick up a free upgrade, with shops also available on the way down. There are other upgrades as well that can enhance the characters overall ability, stamina and agility. You can upgrade the guns, turning them into lasers and generally making them more powerful. You start off at the top of a well shooting things as you fall down, and unlike most games the guns are actually in the player’s feet. I think the best way to describe Downwell is as a hybrid of Binding of Isaac and Mega Man. I have no issue with this at all though, Binding of Isaac is designed to be played over and over again and the developers of Downwell clearly wanted the same thing. While the gameplay appears very different the upgrades, progression system and procedural generation are basically exactly the same. The YouTuber described it as being very similar to Binding of Isaac, this instantly peaked my interest. I honestly didn’t hear much about Downwell until it was mentioned in a “Game of the year” video I watched. This time I went for Downwell on PC, a procedurally generated shooter. Will I find something new to love? Will I find something new to despise? I'll take a full half hour, no matter how bad it gets or how badly I do, to see if this is the game for me.
